How I got here: I received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from Towson University. The summer before my last semester of college, I was brought onto the AFS 401(k) team as an intern. After 6 months of a great experience, I joined as a permanent employee in January 2015.
What I do really well: One of the great things about working on a close-knit team is that I’m able to provide service in a variety of different ways. I compile quarterly investment reviews that are easy to understand for retirement plan committees. I also conduct research on a daily basis to find new features to add in retirement plan line-ups or up-and-coming trends in the industry. Providing clients with a prudent investment lineup is a big responsibility, and we have to ensure that every plan lives up to their fiduciary responsibility.
I like to think of myself as the spark plug of them team. I engage everyone in our office, and bring the positive attitude to get everyone functioning at their highest level. My passion is to make sure everyone enjoys everyday of their life. As Bobby Bones always says, “Today is a good day!”
Overall, I enjoy working with vendors and clients that have the same goal as I do -- making the retirement planning process as simple as possible for employees.
What I’m most interested in for the retirement industry today: Fiduciary responsibility. With the recently updated fiduciary definition from the U.S. DOL, there has been a lot of media activity focused on making sure everyone is living up to their fiduciary responsibility. I help to ensure that everyone understands the impact they make as a Fiduciary and how important it is to uphold these standards.
Who I am really: I was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland. I spend most of my free time either playing a round of golf, going fishing, or snowboarding in the winter time. I’m also a true Washington sports enthusiast. I also enjoy travel and have always enjoyed seeing different parts of the world. Europe is next on my bucket list!
