Why I get up in the morning:
Each day, I focus on empowering others by delivering financial know-how, helping them make progress, and improving their life. Like most people, I’ve faced challenges throughout life that have helped me understand how overwhelming and hard it can be to navigate personal finance, no matter how much you’re worth. From a young age, I’ve used experiences to help me grow and strive to be the best version of myself. Today, I borrow from these lessons in order to help make complex retirement plans simple and straightforward for employers and employees.

Why I get up in the morning:
I often hear clients say how much they look forward to retirement and I think I must be blessed because I love coming to work every day and can’t wait to get my day started each morning after my “lengthy” four-minute walk to the office.

Why I get up in the morning:
We would all like to make it to a point where, financially, work is optional. What many call “retirement” can and should be an exciting part of our lives. I know I intend to retire someday with dignity and on my own terms. I hope to make that a possibility for every single employee that I meet. But, for most of us, there is a lot that will happen between now and retirement. The path to financial success does not begin with a deferral rate and investment election (purposeful use of ridiculous industry lingo). Too often, people skip the critical steps necessary for a strong financial foundation.  Without that, a 401(k) account is just one hardship or loan away from trouble.

That is where we come in. We make sure employees are on solid financial ground and protected if and when life gets in the way. For better or for worse, our financial standing impacts our enjoyment of life. I am honored to be in a position to help people make smart financial decisions that just might make their day a little bit better.

How I got here:
Starting in southern California 25 years ago, and after leaving the consumer products industry, I became licensed as an advisor and worked with a small division of Lincoln Financial Advisors, primarily serving institutions (mostly hospitals) and individuals in the non-profit world for 7 years in the southern California and Las Vegas markets. Relocating to the Washington D.C. area, I briefly worked with a record keeper before joining a local advisory group, Greenberg, Wexler & Eig, where I managed qualified retirement plans for almost 15 years. During this time, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of successful business owners and individuals, more than tripling our managed assets and forming numerous close, long-lasting relationships — many of which included meeting members of the AFS team. Now, after years of socializing and encountering them at industry events, I feel fortunate to join the AFS/HUB group and am both comfortable and honored to be among them.

Why I get up in the morning:
For me, getting up in the morning is always going to be about the people I’ll be seeing. A fresh day brings an opportunity to meet someone new or make a connection with an employee or client. I enjoy learning more about the people I work with, hearing their stories, and allowing others to get to know me better as well.

Why I get up in the morning:
I’d like to say I have some great philosophical reason I get up in the morning, but the truth is it’s my cat that wakes me up. I do believe in the work hard/play hard mantra though. I was raised on the value of hard work. My family grew up on welfare and government assistance, so I had to work for everything that I have. My goal has been to help other hard-working individuals reach their financial goals and make sure their money is working just as hard for them as they worked to earn it.

Why I get up in the morning:
I look forward every day to the challenges and opportunities that come from connecting with our clients and their situations. My goal is to help them feel confident that their financial life is well taken care of, now and for the future. I enjoy staying abreast of the many facets of financial planning — investments, insurance, cash flow, taxes, etc. I am keenly aware of how important a person’s financial plan is in relation to their life as a whole. As a trusted financial advisor, I am in a unique position to help people focus on the things that really matter to them.
